The Poachers Arms is less than a mile from the honey pot village of Castleton with its Norman castle “Peveril Castle” and on the door step of some great walking countryside. We are based in the beautiful rolling hills of the Peak District in the quaint village of Hope.

Hope boasts a couple of village pubs, a butchers, a green grocers, a village shop, delicatessen and take away, all which are within a short walk from The Poachers. There are also some interesting shops and galleries and a railway station. while A short walk into the village of Castleton will bring you a selection of pubs, restaurants, gift shops and cafes.

Bakewell and Castleton

Castleton is perfectly situated for exploring the world famous Blue John Caverns which are again within walking distance from The Poachers. The Winnats Pass will give you spectacular scenery on your way up to Mamtor, the shivering mountain! If you like walking, caving and climbing then this is the perfect place for you. Why not visit the pretty village of Edale with Jacobs Ladder taking you up to the start of The Pennine Way.

Hope is ideally situated for a short drive to Chatsworth House, the market town of Bakewell (treat yourself to a tart!), also why not visit Haddon Hall, Crich Tramway Museum, or Gulliver’s Kingdom at Matlock Bath. Or for another exciting day out why not visit Alton Towers or Carsington Reservoir or take a quick drive up The Winnats Pass to the famous spa town of Buxton or treat the children to a visit to The Chestnut Centre Wildlife Park to meet the local otters and owls.
